Dual OS Android and Windows 8 : ASUS gave up the tablet for Google and Microsoft
ASUS Transformer is forced to give up Duet Book TD300, the tablet with Dual OS - Android and Windows 8 - due to pressure from Google and Microsoft. Neither multinational has enjoyed the project Taiwanese company , who wanted to provide our customers with the ability to switch easily from one operating system to another : I myself have never hidden to have some misgivings about the initiative and not I am surprised of the rapid failure of the product, which was presented at CES 2014 in Las Vegas in January.
What happened to ASUS may extend to other producers , given that Intel and AMD have embraced the same philosophy - offering of processors dedicated to coexistence between Android and Windows 8. I still think that a cohabitation has no reason to exist , not only because Windows RT could perform the same functions of the operating system from Google . Support the utility of products as Surface 2, a slate that can act as a laptop or tablet , but always based on a single platform at the software level.
Dual OS, which BlueStacks uses AMD 's plans - while Transformer Duet Book TD300 , with Intel, proposed a different solution - is a hybrid that does not allow you to fully enjoy the features of Android either , nor those of Windows 8. ASUS wanted to give it a try and was immediately blocked by Google and Microsoft , for once, seems to agree: the two operating systems can not coexist and producers will have to get over it , not to spoil relations with both. I doubt that we will see other experiments.
